Whether you want to learn to shoot like a pro, improve marksman skills or simply have a penchant for taking aim at targets, Marksman’s Nest Firearm Training Centre & Shooting Range does it all.

‘Safety first’ is our motto at the range. Not only do we promote the correct attitude and gun handling, our team of devoted range officers and instructors also monitor the premises continuously to guarantee visitor safety.

Recent upgrades have locked, loaded and led Marksman’s Nest to the cutting edge of shooting tutelage. We provide not only competency in firearm use, but also thorough knowledge of self-defence tactics and safety awareness, training each and every client to the highest possible level. We’ll teach you how to carry your firearm; build your confidence; help you get to grips with one-up; develop your anti-hijacking skills; boost your situational awareness; and assist you to acquire a self-defence mindset.

Our offerings include coaching and instruction for individuals and groups; basic to advanced training with targets, clay and scenarios; refresher competency training; a firearm self-defence application course; combat and tactical training; advice; support; events; and competitions.

In a nutshell, our firearm shooting packages focus on precision, accuracy tests and speed of shooting. Various weapon types are used, including airguns, rifles, carbines and handguns.

Finally, we’re proud to report that we’ve trained more than 1 000 learners over the last few years in firearm proficiency and defensive skills competencies.

Accredited by the Professional Firearms Training Council, our role is imperative in not only training sporting marksmen and preparing private citizens for self-defence scenarios, but also in equipping the security industry to fulfil law and order successfully.

Established in 2016, Marksman’s Nest Firearm Training Centre and Shooting Range is a subdivision of Jabulani Security (Pty) Ltd. The latter has all the required accreditations from various security and firearms industry entities.

MEET THE TEAM

Pride of place goes to our phenomenal instructors – all registered as advanced and tactical firearms instructors, assessors, and/or moderators with the security sector and the South African Professional Firearms Training Council (SAPFTC). You know you’re in good hands, because collectively our trainers have more than 200 years of military, para-military and private security operational and/or strategic experience.

Heading the team is Geoffrey Coetzee, a former mechanised infantry officer in the SANDF, with extensive military operational and training experience, including training recruits, as well as troops for urban, rural and conventional exercises. He also trained junior and senior military staff in military battle handling for joint forces conventional exercises, as well as national and international peacekeeping missions.

In addition, Geoffrey has extensive knowledge and experience as an Occupationally Directed Education Training and Development Practitioner (ETDP) and has trained numerous ETDPs; facilitators, assessors, moderators, course designers and skills development facilitators across several South African SETAs. He also served as an external verifier for the Safety and Security SETA. Having trained with and by some of the best, he now – along with his team – is delighted to share a wealth of life skills, firearm training, knowledge and applications.
