The low-down on firearm licences

Please take note of the requirements for various types of firearm licences. • Section 13 - This is a firearm licence for SELF DEFENSE and valid for 5 years: you may have a maximum of 200 rounds for this section. However, you may only buy more ammunition once you've expanded some of your initial round count. While this might be your self-defense gun, you may practice and develop your skill on an accredited shooting range. You may only have one section 13 firearm licensed in your name. • Section 15 - This firearm licence for OCCASIONAL SPORTSHOOTING/HUNTING is valid for 10 years, and you may have a maximum of 200 rounds for this section. As this firearm is your sport firearm, it may not be carried with you for any other reason. Additionally, you may have three firearms of this section in your name if you already have a self-defense firearm in your name. • Section 16 - The firearm licence for DEDICATED SPORTSHOOTING/HUNTING is valid for 10 years and you're allowed more then 200 rounds for this section. Reason being: you're dedicated to your sport and shoot much more than the occasional shooter. Additional to section 13 & 15, you may own other firearms in your name when licensed under section 16.
